Beberapa Istilah Telekomunikasi:
3G (or 3-G) is short for third-generation mobile telephone technology. The services associated with 3G provide the ability to transfer both voice data (a telephone call) and non-voice data (such as downloading information, exchanging email, and instant messaging).

Enhanced Messaging Service
GPRS
General Packet Radio Service, a system used to allow fast data transfer rates, (up to 171.2 Kb per second), over the GSM network
GPS
Global Positioning System
GSM
Global System for Mobile communications. A term used for mobile phones used by amongst others, Orange, T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone, and others within the UK and Europe.
ICCID
Integrated Circuit Card IDentity. This is also known as a SIM card number, a number which is unique to each SIM. It also identifies the network operator and country of origin.
IMEI
International Mobile Equipment Identity. An electronic serial number for the mobile phone handset.
IMSI
International Mobile Station Identity - used by the network to identify the subscriber.
MCC
Mobile Country Code - a part of the IMSE number which states which mobile network provider SIM card is registered to.
MMS
Multimedia Messaging Service - a system of sending multimedia messages, (such as photo's etc)
MNC
Mobile Network Code - a part of the IMSI number which states which network provider the SIM card is registered to.
MSISDN
Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network
PCN
Public Communications Network
PDA
Portable/Personal Digital Assistant - mobile device with advanced features such as email synchronisation, and MS Office compatible software.
PIN
Personal Identification Number - Used by the user to lock/unlock the SIM or mobile phone handset. This is normally a 4 digit number.
PUK
Personal Unlock Key - Used to lock/unlock the phone if the users PIN has been entered incorrectly more than 3 times. This is normally an 8 digit number.
SIM
Subscriber Identity Module - A memory chip stored on a small memory card which enables the user to hold phone numbers, text messages and the phone number assigned by the network.
SMS
Short/Small Messaging Service - Name given to what is more commonly called a text message, a system of enabling users to communicate to each other using up to 149 characters.
USIM
Universal Subscriber Identity Module - An application running on a smartcard and which is issued by the network operator. Supports speeds between 384 Kb and 2 Mb.
WAP
Wireless Application Protocol - Text based system for accessing internet information over mobile networks.
